Austin Palmer Breaks Own NYU Record, Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

Five members of the New ork University men's swimming & diving team competed in the evening session of the first day of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The meet is being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC, on Wednesday-Saturday, March 16-19.

The Violets currently sit in 13th place with 17 points overall, trailing first-place Denison University by 114 points.

Sophomore Austin Palmer claimed sixth place and All-America honors in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:27.89. Palmer's time in the finals broke his own school record of 4:29.08, which he set during this morning's preliminary round.

"Austin had a fantastic performance tonight," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "He went after it right from the start and was able to bring it home quickly and impressively."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- The 200-yard relay team of sophomore Adam Betts, sophomore Tim Kou, junior captain Daniel Tay, and sophomore Joe Baron finished seventh in the consolation finals and 15th in the nation with a time of 1:31.07.
