Yellowjackets Celebrate Senior Day With Win Over Nazareth

The University of Rochester men's swimming and diving team defeated Nazareth College 171 to 128 on the team's senior day at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Junior AJ Brewer and freshman Elliot Schwinn were both duplicate winners on the afternoon. Brewer finished in 1st place in the 50 free with a time of 22.42 and also finished 1st in the 100 fly with a time of 55.31. Schwinn placed 1st in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:49.84 and also in the 400 meter IM with a time of 4:19.55.

Sophomore Gunnar Zemering placed 1st in the 100 free with a time of 48.61 Freshman Arlen Fan finished 1st in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.64 and 2nd in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.99.

In the 200 meter freestyle relay, two Yellowjacket relay teams placed 1st and 2nd. Their respective times were 131:09 and 131:35 in a very exciting last event of the afternoon. The first place team consisted of Dylan Sharkey, Nick Ranallo, Jacob Reid, and Gunnar Zemering. The 2nd place team consisted of Danny Aronson, AJ Brewer, Erik Rosenkranz, and Lee Stovall.

Senior Dylan Sharkey posted a time of 1:03.17 to finish second in the 100 breaststroke.  Freshman Paul Steve finished 2nd in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.60. Freshman's Connor Virgile and Eric Feirouz finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 200 backstroke posting times of 2:03.96 and 2:04.13. In the 500 freestyle freshman Miles Markey finished 4th posting a time of 5:20.51.

The diving results saw UR's sophomore Kasper Moczulski place 1st in the 3 meter dive with a score of 263.77 and 2nd in the 1 meter dive with a score of 232.72. Fellow classmate max Adler finished 1st in the 1 meter dive with a core of 240.75 and 2nd in the 3 meter dive with a score of 241.50.
