Balance Carries Rochester Past RIT

Rochester used its strength - balance throughout the lineup - to post a 166-134 victory over RIT in men's swimming and diving on Saturday afternoon at RIT.

The Yellowjackets won eight individual events and one relay to secure the win. Elliott Schwinn was the individual double winner,. He was first in the 200 fly (2:03.27) and first in the 500 free (4:55.81). The other individual winners were Gunanr Zemering in the 200 free (1:48.70), Connor Virgile in the 100 backstroke (:55.24), A.J. Fan in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.57), Eric Feirouz in the 200 backstroke (2:00.88), Paul Steve in the 100 fly (:55.01), and Dylan Sharkey in the 200 IM (2:03.85).

Zemering, Fan, A.J. Brewer, and Danny Aronson melded to form the winning 200 medley relay (1:38.37). That got the meet off to a good start. After Ben Weinstein finished second in the 1000 free (10:39.93), Zemering, Virgile, Fan, and Schwinn won four straight events. Jacbob Reid was second to Fan in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.63). Steve touched the wall second in the 200 fly behind Schwinn's victory.

One of the closest races was also the shortest - the 50 free. Brewer was second in :22.24, just eight one-hundredths of a second behind the winner. Third place went to Ryan Berger, who was two one-hundredths of a second behind Brewer (:22.26).

Erik Rosenkranz was second (:49.48) and Aronson third (:50.00) in the 100 free. Alin Kenworthy was timed in 2:03.71 in the 200 back, finishing second to Feirouz. Fan was second (2:17.00) and Miles Markey third (2:19.46) in the 200 breast. Lee Stovall was second to Schwinn in the 500 free (5:02.59). The closing 400 free relay saw Rochester's 'C' relay of Feirouz, Reid, Berger, and Brewer get to the wall in second place (3:19.73).

On the boards, Kasper Moczuylski broke the one meter six-dive school record with a 289.12. That was also an NCAA qualifying performance. He broke the record of 262.87 set by Elliott Lasher three years ago. Moculski was second on the three meter board (271.20).
