Andrew Wilson's unprecedented journey to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games came to an end on Thursday night as the swimmer narrowly missed out on qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team in the finals of the 200 Breaststroke at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

Wilson turned in an impressive performance in his final swim at the Olympic Team Trials, recording a new long course personal best time of 2:09.35. Unfortunately, it was not enough as Wilson finished fourth in the event behind Josh Prenot (2:07.17 – new American record), Kevin Cordes (2:08.00) and Will Licon (2:08.14).

The fourth place showing marked Wilson's second top-five finish at the Olympic Trials this week, an unheard of feat for a Division III swimmer. On Monday evening, Wilson touched fifth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 59.97.
