Spartans in Action During Day 3 of NCAA Championships

Each of the four Case Western Reserve University swimmers competed for the squad during the third day of competition at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.

The Spartans' 800-yard freestyle relay of senior Andrew Henning, junior Drew Hamilton, junior Oliver Hudgins and sophomore Brody Schmidt placed 18thwith a time of 6:47.59. Hamilton's 200-yard freestyle time in the relay broke the program record in the event with a time of 1:39.84, besting the previous record of 1:40.11 set in 2016.

After three days of competition at the NCAA Division III Championships, the Spartans are in 36th place at the meet with 11 points.

CWRU will wrap-up competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday. Currently scheduled to compete for Case Western Reserve are Hamilton in the 1,650 yard freestyle (seeded 18th with a time of 16:03.26), Hudgins in the 200-yard backstroke (seeded 16th with a time of 1:48.79) and all four of the Spartans' swimmers in the 400-yard freestyle relay (seeded 23rd with a time of 3:05.44).
