From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's swimming & diving team has wrapped up day one of the NYU Invitational, which is being held at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan on Friday and Saturday, February 3-4.

There is no team scoring at this meet.

The Violets are competing against eight other teams, including Division-I programs Lehigh University and Drexel University. The other schools competing are the University of Bridgeport, Fashion Institute of Technology, Long Island University - Post, Queens College, Stevens Institute of Technology, and SUNY Delhi.

Connor Brisson set a new NYU record of 612.80 in his victory in the one-meter competition, eclipsing Austen Blease's mark of 571.90 set during the 2014-15 season.

"This was the best performance from top to bottom from every single diver on the team," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "We are primed and ready going into the UAA Championships."

Andrew Guan (1:55.14), Stephen Yang (1:55.79), Christian Alonte (1:56.33), and Steve Turnbull (1:57.37) swept the top-four positions in the 200-yard butterfly.

"We got off to a great start with some very fast swims," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We are set up well for tomorrow."
