The New York University men's swimming & diving team has completed day three at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, which are being held Wednesday-Saturday, March 15-18, at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX.

Heading into the fourth and final day of the competition, the Violets currently are in seventh place with 165.5 points, trailing Williams College and Washington University in St. Louis, who are tied for fifth place, by 13.5 points. Emory University leads with 325 points.

"We have one day left and I am expecting us to finish on a strong note," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We are getting faster and faster as the meet goes on. Tomorrow should be very exciting."

Carlos Colmenares (1:47.13) and Ian Rainey (1:47.92) took third and sixth place, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly. Rainey's time of 1:47.02 in the preliminaries set a new NYU record, besting Colmenares' and Phillip Kang's record of 1:49.15.

Senior captain Daniel Tay also competed in the 200-yard butterfly, placing 26th in a time of 1:51.60.

Chad Moody took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (48.22), while Tim Kou placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (54.29). Moody and Kou both set new school records in their respective events.

"Just a tremendous effort today and I am blown away by how fast they are swimming," added Miele "The times they are posting are incredible. It's a testament to how hard they have worked this year."
