Chicago Opens Season With Home Quad Meet

The University of Chicago men's swimming and diving team began its competitive schedule with a quad meet versus Northwestern University, University of Illinois-Chicago and Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday.

The day's top performers were newcomers. Aaron Guo broke the men's school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:34.87. His winning time shattered the previous record by more than six seconds (9:41.07). Reona Yamaguchi was a multiple winner in the 100-yard breaststroke (56.82) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.64).

Freshman Taye Baldinazzo was second in both the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.
