Sage Ono Wins 100 Backstroke, Eagles Net Two NCAA B Cuts in Dual Meet Action at Georgia Tech

The Emory University Swimming and Diving team was in action Saturday afternoon at the McAuley Aquatic Center as the Eagles squared off against Georgia Tech in the second-to-last dual meet of the 2017-18 season.

Sophomore Sage Ono registered the event win for the Eagles as he recorded the lone sub-50 seconds time in the event, touching with a NCAA qualifying mark of 49.91. Junior Thomas Gordon netted the other NCAA B Cut for the men, finishing third in the 1,650 Freestyle at 16:16.24.

For the Emory men, senior Oliver Smith touched second in the 50 Freestyle at 20.39 and was part of a pair of relays which finished inside the top-three. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Ono, Smith, junior Trey Kolleck and senior Aaron Schwartz was second in the event at 1:22.56 while the 200 Medley Relay consisting of Ono, Smith, Kolleck and senior Cooper Tollen finished third in a time of 1:33.18.
