From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's swimming & diving team competed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in Atlanta, GA, on Thursday, February 15.

The Violets are in second place out of eight teams with 459 points, trailing leaders Emory University (533) and sitting ahead of third-place Washington University in St. Louis (433.5).

Ian Rainey (4:29.14), William Looney (4:29.67), and Peyton Lucas (4:37.15) captured second, third, and seventh place, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle. Moody also competed in the third-place 400-yard medley relay team (3:18.63), which also consisted of Chad Moody, Tim Kou and Nianzhong Liu.

"We got off to a fantastic start this morning and followed it up tonight with an even more impressive effort," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "It was great to see our upperclassmen and freshman contribute to the effort and I'm excited to see them in action tomorrow."

In the three-meter diving competition, Connor Brisson (663.10) won by over 100 points and broke his own school record by more than 40, while teammate Nick Lemieux took third (469.70).

"Except for '305B' there aren't a lot of divers that could have beat Connor today, period," commented Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Nick had the best meet of his young career at NYU. Two down, two to go"
