Bears Remain in Third Place After Second Day of Miami Invitational

The Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming & diving program maintained its third place standing at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational.

The No. 7-ranked WashU men maintained third place during day two with 605 points trailing No. 1-ranked Division III Denison University (928) and Division I Miami (609). The men are ahead of No. 2-ranked and University Athletic Association (UAA) rival Emory University (476) and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (376).

Sophomore Peyton Wilson matched his school record time of 49.08 in the 100 backstroke to earn one of the Bears nine B cut times. He also helped the Bears 200 medley relay to a third place finish and B cut time of 1:29.69 with the help of junior Kevin Van Cleave, junior Andrew Pek and sophomore Chase Van Patten.

Van Cleave also earned a B cut time with his fourth place finish in the 400 individual medley (3:59.38) and was joined by junior Jordan Wheeler (4:00.39).

Two additional WashU men earned B cut times in the 100 butterfly with junior Brandon Lum placing third (49.03) while posting a faster time in prelims (48.86). Pek also posted multiple B cut times with his top 100 butterfly time coming in prelims (49.31).

The final WashU men's B cut time of day two came from sophomore Simon Deshusses in the 100 breaststroke (56.16).
