NYU Finishes Third at Total Performance Invitational

On Saturday, December 1, the New York University men's swimming & diving team competed on the third and final day of the Total Performance Invitational hosted by Kenyon College in Gambier, OH.

The Violets finished third of five teams with 1,963.5 points. Kenyon (3,154 points) won the competition and Carnegie Mellon University (2,119.5) finished second. 

Elan Oumarov was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly with a final time of 1:49.13. In the same event, Nathan Huot (1:51.49) finished fourth.

"Oumarov swam a great race tonight," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "I am looking forward to seeing him swim even faster at the NCAA's."

In the 200-yard backstroke, Josh Rine (1:49.53) and Alexander Montgomery (1:50.77) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. 

Graham Chatoor, with a time of 15:58.75, captured sixth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Jake Haines (2:03.57) took sixth place in the 200-yard breaststroke. 

"The men had a strong showing tonight and I was pleased with our effort and results," Miele said. "They worked hard all semester and I am happy to see it pay off."

In diving, Cole Vertin took third in the three-meter with a score of 512.70.

"I'm so pleased with the way the athletes competed over the weekend," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "We competed many new dives and, for this point in the season, it was a great way to finish the semester."
