CWRU Tops NYU 7-2 at UAA Men's Tennis Championship

The No. 12 fourth-seeded Case Western Reserve men's tennis team swept doubles en route to a 7-2 win over eighth-seeded NYU in the consolation semifinals of the UAA Men's Tennis Championship.

The No. 1 doubles team of juniors CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) and Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) earned an 8-4 victory, while the No. 2 tandem of senior Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) and junior Viswajit Simhadri (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) earned an 8-3 victory. The freshman combination of Andrew Komarov (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) and Tytus Chen (San Jose, Calif./Mountain View) finished the sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3.

Krimbill made quick work of his opponent with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Drougas and Simhadri each won three-setters to earn their second points of the match for the Spartans. Drougas won 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 at No. 2 singles and Simhadri recorded a 4-6. 6-1, 10-6 victory at No. 3 singles.

Rounding out the singles wins for CWRU was sophomore Joshua Dughi (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades), who posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
