Louis Stuerke, Andrew Komarov Lead No. 12 CWRU Past No. 24 Stevens, 6-3

Junior Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest) earned the clinching point as the No. 12 Case Western Reserve men's tennis team defeated No. 24 Stevens Institute of Technology, 6-3, at the Cleveland Racquet Club.

Stuerke and freshman Andrew Komarov (Buffalo Grove, IL/ Adlai E. Stevenson) each contributed two points in the Spartans' hard-fought victory. Every player in the lineup secured at least one point in the win.

Stuerke and junior CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain), the fourth-ranked doubles team in the Central Region, won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. The freshmen duo of Komarov and Tytus Chen won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles for the second CWRU point.

Komarov won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6 singles and a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles by senior Will Drougas (Roanoke, VA/Salem) gave the Spartans a 4-2 lead, but the Ducks took the first set in each of the other three matches.

Stuerke came back from a one-set defecit to clinch the match at No. 4 singles with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory. In the final match of the evening, junior Viswajit Simhadri (Saratoga, CA/Lynbrook) fought back to take the point at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
