The University of Chicago men's tennis team bounced back from a narrow loss the previous day to upset Kenyon College 7-2 on Sunday.

The No. 17-ranked Maroons improved to 3-2 on the season. The No. 12-ranked Lords fell to 1-1. It marks the first win by UChicago over Kenyon since before 1986.

After a 5-4 defeat at No. 8-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, UChicago came out firing in doubles and swept all three matches. The Maroons mixed up their pairings once again and the duo of sophomore Max Hawkins and freshman Luke Tsai moved up to the No. 1 spot, where they won 8-6.

In singles, two matches went to third-set super tiebreakers and freshmanDavid Liu earned one of them 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. The three other Maroon singles winners took their matches in straight sets at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 spots. Four different players picked up two wins on the day, including freshman Nicolas Chua, senior Deepak Sabada, Liu and Tsai.

"Today was an unbelievable win for the team and the program after such a tough match last night," said Head Coach Jay Tee. "We are lucky to have tremendous leadership in addition to some pretty darn good players. Our doubles play was inspiring and gave us so much confidence heading into singles and allowed us to play free."
