Maroons Roll Through Illinois-Chicago, 6-1

The No. 17-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis squad knocked off its first NCAA Division I opponent of the season, defeating University of Illinois-Chicago 6-1 on Saturday.

The Maroons improved to 6-2 and sent the Flames to 2-8 on the year.

After splitting at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, the doubles point ended up being decided by the No. 2 spot. Senior Deepak Sabada and freshman David Liu triumphed in the tiebreak 8-7 (7-5). With the doubles point in hand, UChicago rolled through the singles lineup, taking five out of six. Sabada came through in three sets at No. 2 singles while the other four wins came in straight sets. Sabada, Liu and freshman Nicolas Chua all went 2-0 on the day.
