From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted Washington and Lee University on Saturday, April 2, defeating the Generals 8-1. The Tartans, ranked seventh in the nation, are now 11-5 on the year while the Generals, ranked 25th, are now 9-4.
The Tartans swept through doubles with a pair of 8-2 wins at second and third doubles and an 8-4 win a first doubles.
Senior Yuvraj Kumar (New Delhi, India/Millfield School) completed his singles match first, winning 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth position. Freshman Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) recorded the match point for the Tartans with a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles.
Junior Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) won at fifth singles 6-2, 6-1, freshman Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) won a second singles 6-1, 6-2 and senior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) won at first singles, 6-1, 6-0.
