Yellowjackets Defeat RIT 9-0

The University of Rochester men's tennis team earned its second straight 9-0 victory, defeating cross-town rival RIT on Wednesday evening at the Goergen Athletic Center.
 
UR (5-7) had four double-winners on the day led by freshman Masaru Fujimaki who had wins at #1 singles and #1 doubles.  Other two-time winners on Wednesday were seniors Ben Shapiro and Ian Baranowski and sophomore Aaron Mevorach.  The loss drops RIT's record to 2-4 on the season.

Rochester was able to sweep through doubles play starting with an 8-1 win from Shapiro and Andrew Nunno over RIT's Jason Alexander and Jared Raphael.  Following that, Baranowski paired with Kevin Hunt at 3rd doubles for an 8-4 win over Ken Chou and Ian Dansereau.
 
The final doubles match, at #1, pitted Fujimaki and Mevorach against Chandler Daub and Ben Lynaugh.  The UR combo fell behind early by a break on two separate occasions, but rallied late for an 8-6 win.
 
In singles, the 'Jackets did not drop a set, earning six straight sweeps.  Mevorach posted a 6-1, 6-3 win to start things off at #4 over Dansereau.  Shapiro then won the clinching point at #2, defeating Lynaugh 6-2, 6-0.
 
Baranowski then dispatched Chou 6-1, 6-3 at #3 while Fujimaki was winning 6-2, 6-1 over Daub at #1.
 
The final two matches of the day saw Rochester's Sam Leeman defeat Alexander 6-1, 6-0 at #5 while Ryan Zu capped the sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Raphael in the six slot.
