Aaron Mevorach of Rochester Captures Two Flight Titles At SLU Fall Classic

University of Rochester sophomore Aaron Mevorach kicked off his 2015-16 campaign going a perfect 7-for-7 and won two flight titles at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic over the weekend at St. Lawrence University.
 
Mevorach won the B Flight singles title and then paired with senior Ian Baranowski to win the A Flight doubles bracket.  The Yellowjacket sophomore started off the weekend with a tight 9-8 pro-set victory over Ian Antonoff of Hamilton College in the first round of singles play.  In the quarterfinals on Saturday, he easily beat Ithaca's Brandon Buksbaum 8-1 to advance to Sunday's semifinals.  In the semis, he defeated Patrick Gray of Hobart 6-4, 7-5 before winning in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (4) over Lars Scannell of Hamilton to win the singles title.
 
In doubles, Mevorach and Baranowski received a 1st round bye before advancing to the semifinals with an 8-4 win over Paul Barrett and Elliot Solandt of host St. Lawrence.  In Sunday's action, the UR pair won 9-7 over Jonathan Atwater and Jonah Salita of Hobart in the semifinals.  In the finals, Rochester's team won over Ian Antonoff and Scannell of Hamilton 8-3.
 
Rochester had a strong performance in the A Flight singles bracket as well.  Three of the semifinalists were Yellowjackets as Baranowski, Ben Shapiro and Masaru Fujimaki were among the final four.  Fujimaki had the best result, reaching the final.  In the first round the UR freshman defeated Jared Ingoglia of RIT 8-2 and then won 8-4 over Chris Hayes of Ithaca in the quarterfinals.  He then topped his teammate Shapiro 6-2, 6-2 in the semis before succumbing to Michael Gardiner of Ithaca 6-1, 6-0 in the finals.
 
Rochester also had a finalist in the C Flight singles bracket in sophomore Jun Yuminaga.  He would defeate Garrett Sopko 8-3 in the first round and won over Austin Lokre of Hamilton 8-6 to reach the semifinals.  There, he won over Hamilton's Alex Streich 6-1, 6-4 before dropping a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Matthew Haas of Hamilton in the finals.
