The Brandeis men's tennis team avenged an earlier regular-season loss in the consolation semifinals of the 2017 UAA tournament, as the seventh-seeded Judges defeated sixth-seeded NYU, 7-2, at Sanlando Park this afternoon. The Judges, ranked 34th in Division III, improve to 11-8 on the season and move on to face fifth-seeded and 12-ranked Case Western Reserve in tomorrow's fifth-place match.

In singles action, senior Brian Granoff (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) continued the roll with a 6-0, 6-2, win at No. 2. NYU got their first point at No. 6 as Xavier Pacthod earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory, but Brandeis clinched the win one spot higher, where rookie Mitchell Ostrovsky (Brooklyn, N.Y./Leon M. Goldstein) won, 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) took a 6-4, 6-4, win at No. 4, while senior Michael Arguello (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) claimed a first-set tiebreaker then rolled in the second, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. In the final match, Brandeis's Ryan Bunis (Cincinnati, Ohio./Groton-Dunstable, Mass.) was forced to withdraw a game into the second set after falling in a tiebreaker in the first, giving NYU their second point.
