Tartans Open Dual Season with 9-0 Victory Against Grove City

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted Grove City College on Monday, September 19 after rain forced Saturday's match to be postponed. The Tartans defeated the Wolverines, 9-0, to earn their first team victory of the season.

The Tartans swept doubles action with two 8-0 wins at first and third doubles and an 8-3 win at second doubles. The sophomore pair of Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) and Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) played first doubles to win the first point while senior Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) paired with freshman Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) to win at third doubles. The freshman pair of Hudson Graf (Irvine, Calif./University) and Mark Prettyman (Fairfax, Va./Thomas Jefferson) earned the third point of the match at third doubles.

In singles action, sophomore Julian Sweeney (Austin, Texas/Westlake) topped Ian Yoder, 6-0, 6-0, at sixth singles before Levin clinched the match at third singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Miguel Esteban Diaz.
