From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team was selected as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team award recipient, while nine members of the squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, based on their grade point averages during the 2015-16 season.

Individual Spartans recognized as Scholar-Athletes by the ITA included seniors CJ Krimbill and Louis Stuerke, juniors Adam Collins, Kevin Dong, Phil Gruber and Gabriel Murcia, and freshmen John Benedetto, Tyler Holsopple and David Zakhodin.  It marked the fourth-straight year that Krimbill has earned the honor, while Dong claimed the award for the third time over his career, and Collins and Gruber each claimed their second.  The other five players each earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the first time in their careers.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).  In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.

Case Western Reserve finished the 2015-16 season ranked eighth in Division III, reaching the round of 16 of the NCAA Division III Championships.  The Spartans matched the program record for victories in a season with a 22-8 overall record, and were ranked as high as fifth in Division III during the campaign, the highest ranking in the program's history.
