NYU Completes Day One at 'Four in the Fall'

The New York University men's tennis team completed its first day of competition at the Four in the Fall Tournament held at Fordham University in the Bronx, NY, on Saturday-Sunday, September 17-18.

The Violets, competing in both singles and doubles matches, compiled an overall record of 16-5 on Saturday. This included a 9-1 record against St. Francis College and a 7-4 record against Fordham.

Five athletes -- senior Umberto Setter (2-0), juniors Samuel Khoshbin (3-0) and Jiri Honajzer (3-0), and freshmen Xavier Pacthod (4-0) and Vishal Walia (2-0) -- went undefeated on the day. 

"There was some unevenness, but our guys were able to come out ahead on big points and pick up wins," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- Senior Matt DeMichiel also played well for the Violets. The Hewlett, NY, native went 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles play.

"Matt played well," added Choy. "It was a continuation of his strong play from last week."
