Emory University senior Scott Rubinstein (Madison, CT) of the men's tennis program, was recently named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Academic All-District team presented by Google Cloud recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Rubinstein closed out his four-year run as an Eagle at the 2018 NCAA D-III Men's Tennis Championships. A three-time All-American in doubles, he posted 76 career doubles victories, good for eighth place on the school's all-time chart. He, along with partner James Spaulding, advanced to the finals of this year's Doubles Championships, with the pair compiling an overall record of 23-13. He also logged a singles mark of 14-8 in helping Emory to an overall record of 19-5 and a spot in the NCAA Championships semifinals.
A Business Administration major, Rubinstein was nominated with a 3.73 grade-point average.
Rubinstein will now be placed on the national ballot for the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team which will be announced on Tuesday, June 12th.
Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Emory's representatives are District 5 selections from Division III institutions comprised from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
