From Emory University Athletics
The Emory University men's 4x400-meter relay team came just four
hundredths of a second away from setting a new school record, and
junior Gui Silva recorded a top-10 time in Division III
in the 400-meter dash, highlighting the Eagles' performances at the
Ron Althoff Invitational on Monday, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan
University in Delaware Ohio.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of junior Zachary Rosenberg,
sophomore Adam Rabushka, sophomore Maxwell Hoberman, and
Silva won the event with a time of 3:14.26, the ninth-best mark by
a program in Division III this season, putting the Eagles within
the top-16 teams in the country that will qualify for the NCAA
Championships, with just another week remaining to improve on
times. The time was the third fastest in Emory history, and
just four hundredths of a second off the program record, set by
former Eagles Alex Greenhouse, Tyler Faits, Jason Campbell and
Frederick Linton at the 2008 NCAA Championships.
Silva added an event win in the 400-meter dash, recording a
career-best time of 47.81 seconds. The mark was the
10th-fastest time in school history, and raised him to
eighth on the 2014 Division III performance list.
Other individual finishes at the meet for Emory came from Rabushka,
who placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.52
seconds, and Hoberman, who finished fourth in the triple jump with
a distance of 13.75 meters.
Emory also sent a small group to the Georgia Invitational on
Saturday, hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens,
Georgia. Junior Ulrica Tull placed
15th in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.60
meters, while junior James Bassen claimed seventh in the
javelin throw, registering a mark of 51.79 meters.
