Lukas Mees Smashes Own Emory Record at Dr. Keeler Invitational

From Emory University Athletics

A school record was broken on Friday night as the Emory University track & field team wrapped up competition at the Dr. Keeler Invitational held at North Central College in Naperville, IL.

Senior Lukas Mees rounded out the Emory performers on the evening by shattering the school record in the 3000m Steeplechase. Mees posted a time of 9:03.27 to finish fifth in the race, a time made all the more impressive with the fact that he did it during a driving rain storm. The Marion, IA native out-ran his previous school record time of 9:10.58 which he set at North Central's Gregory Invitational last May. Mees, who entered competition with the 23rd best time in the country, moved up to sixth nationally with his effort on Friday night.
