Spartans Close Competition at Two Meets on Saturday

The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team competed at two meets on Saturday. The athletes competed at the Marv Frye Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, and the throwers competed at the Bob Kahn Invitational, hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.

At the Marv Frye Invite, the Spartan men tallied nine top-three finishes and placed second at the meet with 106 points.

Senior Nathaniel Wahner led the Case Western Reserve men, winning both the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. He finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.32 and placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.83. Wahner also teamed with juniors Ben Zelkin, Adrian Cannon and Zak Hurd in the 4x100-meter hurdles to place third with a time of 42.98.

The CWRU men's 4x400-meter relay team of junior Aidan DeSanto, senior Nico Ericksen-Deriso, junior Nicholas Knorz and senior Joe Ledger also added a third place finish in the event with a time of 3:26.38.

Other top performers for the Spartan men at the Marv Frye meet came from freshman Dominic Oddo in the long jump (second, 6.67 meters), junior James Gibson in the 1,500-meter run (second, 4:02.45), junior Grant Mlack in the 110-meter hurdles (third, 15.36) sophomore David Prigg in the pole vault (third, 3.98 meters) and sophomore Ananth Suresh in the triple jump (third, 12.89 meters).

Juniors Jason Lockamy and Alex Nesvisky highlighted the men's performances at the meet. Lockamy finished first in the discus throw with a toss of 41.61 meters, and also placed second in the javelin throw with a mark of 40.63 meters. Nesvisky also picked up two top-three performances, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 13.36 meters and placing third in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.11 meters.
