Eagles' Distance Medley Relay Breaks School Record at Emory Invitational

The Emory University Men's Track and Field team kicked off the outdoor season this past weekend with the Emory Invitational held at the Woodruff PE Center. The Eagles finished the two-day meet with 45 points to place seventh out 33 schools that scored. The meet hosted over 1,000 athletes from close to 50 teams.

The Eagles began the meet on Friday evening, scoring in four events. The Distance Medley Relay featuring Samuel Branson, Brandon Cromer, Michael McBane and Shane Sullivan broke the school record with a time of 10:23.10. The group won the event by over two seconds.

Cromer added a fifth place showing as part of the 4x800m Relay team along with Jake Schlessinger, Gregory Litle and Ian George. The group clocked in with a time of 8:14.73.

In the javelin, Jackson Hoit placed fourth with a mark of 52.01m and in the 3000m Steeplechase, Bennett Shaw was fifth in a time of 9:42.01.

On Saturday, Emory scored in an additional five events to close out the meet. Branson and Luis Torres combined for nine points in the 5000m Run. Branson was third overall at 15:30.52 while Torress finished sixth at 15:39.86.

Benjamin Rogin posted a 15.00 in the finals of the 110 Hurdles to finish fourth overall. In the Discus, Zachary Lembersky had a fifth place showing with a mark of 41.04m.

The 4x100m Relay consisting Kyle Veator, Aria Mohseni, Max Helfman and Rogin clocked in a time of 43.14 to come in seventh place. McBane added an eighth place effort in the 1500m Run with a time of 4:02.76 to round out Emory scorers at the meet.
