Spartans Open Season at Washington & Lee Carnival

The Case Western Reserve University track and field team opened its 2018 outdoor season this weekend at the 2018 W&L Carnival, hosted by Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia on Friday and Saturday.

Senior Grant Mlack finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.44, while sophomore Dominic Oddo placed fifth with a time of 15.90. In addition, Mlack placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.73 and Oddo finished fifth with a time of 57.52. Mlack also teamed with seniors Ben Zelkin and Adrian Cannon and sophomore Sam Jenkins to finish third in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.20.

The Spartans also turned in fourth place finishes in the high jump and the 800-meter run. Freshman Kai Fletcher placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.84 meters, while sophomore Michael Hradesky placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.64.

Other top finishers for the CWRU men included sophomore Brian Holden in the javelin (fifth, 49.65m), sophomore Jonathan Haling in the 100-meter dash (fifth, 11.45), freshman Dmytro Blundell in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (fifth, 9:53.94) and sophomore David Prigg in the pole vault (fifth, 3.80m).
