UAA Honors Andrew Chang and Thomas Vandenberg for Indoor Achievements

Two individuals from the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team received University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track and Field honors after competition closed on Saturday, March 1 at the championship meet. 

Junior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) was named the UAA Men's Most Outstanding Performer in Running Events for the second year in a row.  He is now the first person in Carnegie Mellon indoor track and field history to receive this honor twice.  He is also only the second person to receive this title, as Brian Harvey was honored with the title in 2009. 

Vandenberg grabbed a UAA title for the Tartans as he won the 800-meter run in 1:53.32, breaking his own school record. The sophomore also won the UAA title in the distance medley relay as the team posted a time of 10:11.11.

Freshman Andrew Chang (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) received the UAA honor of Men's Rookie of the Year.  Chang had a second-place finish the in the 200-meter dash and a third-place finish in the 55-meter dash during the championship meet. 

Chang is the first representative from Carnegie Mellon to ever receive the UAA Indoor Track and Field Men's Rookie of the Year award.
