Harry Weintraub of CWRU Shatters UAA Championship Weight Throw Meet Record

Senior Harry Weintraub (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Henry Hudson) shattered the meet record and eclipsed his own school standard in the weight throw as the Case Western Reserve University men's track & field team ranks third of seven after day one of the 2014 University Athletic Association Indoor Championship

Washington University in St. Louis ranks first with 46 points, and Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) is second with 41. The Spartans racked up 34 points on day one of two.

Weintraub broke the meet record initially with his first two throws then launched his final throw 61 feet, five inches to electrify the throwing event crowd.

The previous meet record at the UAA Championship was 58'5.5". Weintraub's previous school record was 59'4.75".

Senior David Leishman (Rock Creek, Ohio/Geneva) also earned All-UAA honors in the weight throw with a toss of 52'.

Also earning All-UAA honors in field events was junior Joshua Malone(Berea, Ohio/Berea) with a runner-up mark in the high jump of 6'4.33".

On the track, senior David Dixon (Atlanta, Georgia/Lakeside) finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:55.90.
