From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
Carnegie Mellon University Director of Athletics Josh Centor has
announced that Associate Head Track and Field Coach Gary Aldrich
will serve as the Tartans’ acting head coach for the 2014-15
indoor season. Aldrich takes over following the announcement of
Dario Donatelli’s (TPR’81) retirement prior to the
start of indoor track and field season.
“Coach Aldrich has been an integral part of our program for
a long time and I am grateful for his willingness to accept these
additional responsibilities during our transition,” said
Director of Athletics Josh Centor.
In Aldrich's eight seasons as the associate head coach for the
men’s and women’s track and field programs, the men's
program has won three University Athletic Association Championships
and he has mentored five All-Americans. Aldrich is primarily in
charge of the field events, hurdlers and fall conditioning
program.
The five-time USTFCCCA Mideast Regional Assistant Coach of the
Year winner (2008 outdoor men, 2011 outdoor women, 2012 indoor men
and women and 2012 outdoor women) has brought a presence from the
beginning, including a successful coaching pedigree and strength
and conditioning program that propelled the track and field teams
to new heights.
Carnegie Mellon will open the 2014 indoor track and field season
on January 17 at Edinboro.
