Nathaniel Wahner Sets CWRU Record on Second Day of Kent State Golden Gala

Senior Nathaniel Wahner of the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team broke the school record in the 200-meter dash en route to placing seventh out of 31 competitors on the final day of the Kent State Golden Gala.

Wahner finished the event in a time of 22.44, besting the previous school record of 22.48, set by Wahner last season.

The Spartan men were also strong in the distance events at the meet, taking three of the top-10 spots in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Joseph Cabral finished second with a time of 1:56.52, which now ranks second in program history. Freshman Michael Hradesky placed sixth with a time of 1:59.50 and senior Joe Ledger placed eighth with a time of 2:00.33.

The men also turned in two sixth places finish on the second day of the Gala. Junior Grant Mlack finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.61 and freshman Dominic Oddo finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.21 meters. Oddo also placed seventh in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.25.

Adding a fourth-place finish was the 4x400-meter relay team of Wahner, senior Nico Ericksen-Deriso, junior Andrew Ibibo and freshman Jonathan Haling with a time of 3:21.72.

On Friday, junior Sam Merriman turned in the Spartans top performance of the day, finishing third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15.19.72.

Sophomore Tyler Bushman also competed for the men on the first day of the Golden Gala, finishing 23rd in the weight throw with a mark of 12.22 meters.
