Junior Shane Sullivan broke the school record in the 3000m Run to lead the Emory University Men's Track and Field team in action this past weekend at the Samford Open.
Sullivan clocked in with a time of 8:22.85, besting his previous school record by nearly 12 seconds (8.34.57).
Senior Kyle Veator posted an Emory season-best mark in the long jump at 6.65m while junior Max Brown turned in an Eagles' season-best time of 4:16.94 in the mile run. Freshman Samuel Branson clocked in under the two-minute mark for the first time in his career, finishing 19th overall at 1:59.80.
The Eagles also sent a small contingent of athletes to the Tiger Indoor Invitational hosted by Sewanee University on Saturday afternoon. Emory finished eighth at the meet with a total of 22 points.
Junior Charlie Hu paced the Eagles at Sewanee, accounting for 12 of the Eagles' total points. Hu finished first in the triple jump at 13.35m and was fifth in the high jump at 1.70m. He also competed in the long jump, tying for seventh with freshman Michael Battat with a mark of 6.28m.
Sophomore Zachary Lembersky eclipsed his previous top distance in the weight throw, registering a mark of 14.39 to finish second in the event. His mark is seventh-best ever recorded in school history.
Junior Charles King rounded out the Emory scoring leaders at the meet with a fifth place effort in the 800m Run, finishing in a time of 2:08.17.
