Dominic Oddo Sets CWRU Record at Spartan Holiday Classic

Case Western Reserve University sophomore Dominic Oddo broke a school record as the men's track and field team wrapped up competition on Saturday evening at the Fifth-Annual Spartan Holiday Classic.

The Spartan men finished first out of six teams at the meet as they totaled 124 points. Oberlin finished second with 79 points and Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 76. 

Oddo broke the school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.97 meters, which bests the previous school record of 6.69 meters set by Andrew Barnhart in 2012. He also claimed a first place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.94) and a third place finish in the high jump (1.82 meters). Mlack also finished second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.01).

Senior Andrew Ibibo earned a first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.81, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Ibibo, senior Grant Mlack, Oddo and sophomore Jonathan Haling finished first in the event with a time of 1:33.26. Mlack also finished second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.01).

Sophomore Michael Hradesky earned a first place finish in the 800-meter run (1:58.03), while freshman Thomas Patton added a third place finish in the event (2:03.74). Junior Ananth Suresh also collected two third place finishes, claiming third in the long jump (6.34 meters) and third in the triple jump (12.53 meters).
