Dominic Oddo Breaks CWRU Heptathlon Record at All-Ohio Multi-Events Championship

Case Western Reserve University sophomore Dominic Oddo finished second out of nine competitors in the men's heptathlon at the All-Ohio Division III Multi-Events Championship on Sunday at Ohio Wesleyan University with a new school-record of 4,615 points.

Oddo's 4,615 points breaks the previous school record of 4,523 points set by Michael Cohara in 2012. Oddo placed within the top four of each event throughout the two-day championship. He won the jump with a leap of 6.78 meters (762 points), which set a new meet record in the event. Oddo also finished tied for first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.56 (846 points). He had three third-place finishes in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.32 (772 points), the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:54.97 (714 points) and the high jump with mark of 1.82 meters (644 points). He also added two fourth-place finishes in the pole vault (3.09m, 379 points) and the shot put (10.20m, 498 points).

In addition, freshman Kai Fletcher finished seventh at the event with a score of 3,873 points. His best finish came in the high jump when he finished tied for third with a mark of 1.82 meters (644 points). Fletcher also added a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:56.19 (702 points).

Oddo and Fletcher combined to score 10 points which will be included towards the All-Ohio Division III Championships this Saturday, February 10th.
