Emory Competes in First Day of Carolina Challenge

The Emory University indoor track & field team competed in the first day of the Carolina Challenge on Friday in Columbia, South Carolina with athletes on both the men's and women's team putting up impressive days.

Graduate student Ethan Thompson won the 3,000m run, recording a time of 8:28.91 which is the fourth best time in program history and sits as the 15th best time in Division III to this point of the season according to TFRRS. Junior Spencer Watry set the top time for an Eagle in the 800m run this season with a 1:55.03 time on Friday that placed him third at the meet. The 4x400 relay team of senior Tommy Davis, junior Dawit Dean, freshman Bryce Wurster and Watry placed second at the Carolina Challenge notching a time of 3:22.42 which marks the 19th best time in Division III this season. Senior Justin Pecore had a solid day in the 1 mile run placing third after crossing the finish line in 4:19.78. 

Junior Kenya Sei had a remarkable day tossing a distance of 14.91m in the weight throw to place fifth and marks his second time this season recording a top ten distance in program history this time placing ninth. Sophomore John Zhai competed in the long jump where he registered a distance of 6.57m to place 13th.
