Emory Finishes 11th at Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble

The Emory men’s cross country team came through with a fine performance at Oberlin College’s Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.

The men’s squad recorded an 11th-place finish out of 34 teams, finishing with 281 points.  Taking home the No. 1 spot was No. 7-ranked Geneseo State with 96 points while No. 29 Oneonta claimed runner-up honors with 126 points.  No. 30 Carnegie Mellon (151 pts.), John Carroll (165 pts.) and Mount Union (193 pts.) rounded out the top five.  Senior Tyler Cooke led the Emory effort, posting a time of 26:22 that placed 41st out of 278 runners. 

Cooke was one of three Eagles to finish among the top 50 with senior Alex Fleischhacker (26:24, 45th) and junior Lukas Mees (26:28, 46th) included in that group.  Sophomore Grant Murphy was the next Emory entry to appear on the score sheet, coming through with a season-best effort of 26:35 that was good for 57th position.   Rounding out the team’s scorers was freshman Jordan Flowers at 27:07 that ranked 98th in the field (92nd scoring spot).
