From NYU Athletics
The New York University men's cross country team took part in the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, October 18, in Waterford, CT.
The Violets took first place in the 18-team competition as five team members finishiedi among the top-20 in the 8k race.
The NYU squad accumulated a total of 64 points. The runner-up,
United States Coast Guard Academy, scored 76 points, while host
Connecticut College placed third with a total of 87 points.
The Violets' University Athletic Association (UAA) rivals, Brandeis
University, placed eighth (186 points).
Senior Sebastian Oja, who reigning Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Runner of the Week,
continued his successful cross country campaign by finishing first
in a time of 25:42.
Connecticut College's Ben Bosworth (25:51) place
second.
Overall, 212 runners took part in the race, which was held in Harkness Memorial State Park.
Highlights:
- NYU freshman Max Mudd and
senior Dharan Kadiyala placed 13th (26:21) and
14th (26:23), respectively.
- Senior Johnny Lake took 16th place in a
time of 26:26.
- Another athlete to score for the team was
sophomore Herbert Gates, who finished 20th
(26:36).
