Tartans Win Fourth Consecutive Carnegie Mellon Cross Country Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team hosted its annual invitational on Saturday, October 10 and for the fourth straight year the Tartans won the 20-team event. Leading the way for the Tartans with the top individual finish was junior Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) as he crossed the finish line with a time of 26:00.4 in a field of 205 runners.

Sophomore Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) placed third with a time of 26:07.5 while the Tartans had two other runners place in the top 10 and seven total in the top 15.  Junior Steven Kool (Vienna, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology) crossed in 26:15.0 and senior Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) recorded a time of 26:20.2 placing seventh and ninth, respectively.

Senior Brian Bollens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and freshman William Mitchell(Chatham, N.J.) crossed in 11th and 12th with times of26:24.4 and 26:26.2.  Rounding out the Tartans top seven was freshman Jared Moore (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) crossing in 26:30.5 in 15th.
