Tartans Finish Third at Mideast Regional

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team finished third at the NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 14 with 98 points. Haverford won with 67 points, as Elizabethtown with 93 points.

Junior Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) led the way for the Tartans over the 8k course at Big Spring High School. The junior finished 10th overall with a time of 25:46.4.

Freshman William Mitchell (Chatham, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) completed his Mideast Regional debut as the Tartans second runner. The freshman placed 17th in 26:00.1. Sophomore Ryan Auld (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) finished two spots behind Mitchell in 19th place in 26:01.2. Auld improved his time from last year by 31.2 seconds.

Behind Auld was junior Brian Bolles (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) in 23rd place in 26:04.4 and senior Josh Antonson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in 29th place in 26.11.2.

Senior Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) and freshman Aaditya Mhatre (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) also ran for the Tartans. Julien ran the course in 26:12.4 for 30th place and Mhatre finished 34th in 26:14.8.

The Tartans will wait until Monday, November 16 to learn their fate for the NCAA Division III men's and Women's Cross Country Championships. The meet will be hosted by University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Saturday, November 21. The men's race is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
