Freshman Forrest Hangen missed garnering All-Region accolades by one spot as he led the Rochester men's cross country team to a 12th place finish at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships on Saturday at Letchworth State Park.
Hangen completed the 8k course in 26:17.0, finishing in 36th place of 288 runners. The top-35 runners earn All-Region honors at the championships. Overall as a team, Rochester compiled 363 points with four of its top-5 runners placing in the top-100 of the field.
Host SUNY Geneseo took home the team title with 54 points while St. Lawrence was 2nd with 68. The remainder of the top-5 teams were Hamilton, Ithaca and NYU. 41 teams sent full teams to the regional.
Junior Dan Nolte was the second Yellowjacket finisher across the stripe, finishing in 64th place in a time of 26:43.2. Senior Jeremy Hassett completed his UR XC career with a 69th place run in 26:47.5.
Freshman Ben Martell ended 92nd (27:11.9) while junior Matt Prohaska completed UR's scoring with a 102nd place run (27:18.7). UR's displacers were juniors Jake Greenberg and Eric Franklin. Greenberg finished in 122nd (27:37.5) while Franklin was 132nd (27:45.7).
