NYU Places Fifth in Paul Short Run

From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Run on Saturday, October 1, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. NYU took part in both the Men's Open and the College Men's Brown events.

The Violets placed fifth in the College Men's Brown 8K event, totaling 224 points. Senior Jorge Maldonado captured third with a time of 24:45.

"It was another great run from Jorge," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "He's showing signs he's going to be very difficult to beat at the UAA (University Athletic Association) level and beyond."

Another contingent of the men's team participated in the Men's Open event, where team scores were not kept. Junior Brandon Shirazi was the first Violet to cross the finish line, doing so in 26:24. Senior Nathaniel Picard-Busky finished 26 seconds later.

"The men ran great across the board," Hurtault said. "It was an important race. We beat Haverford, which was ranked 15th. We're in a great spot for early October. We are looking towards the end of the month."
