Spartans Finish Second at Sudeck Sunset Classic Stampede

Paced by a second-place finish from senior Aidan DeSanto, the Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team opened its 2017 campaign with a second-place finish in the team standings at the Sudeck Sunset Classic Stampede at the Squire Valleevue Farm in Hunting Valley, Ohio.



 

DeSanto finished second in the field of 66 competitors, crossing the finish line of the 6,000-meter race with a time of 19:33.8.  Senior Zach Roshon placed fourth for the Spartans with a time of 19:36.3, while sophomore Andrew Green added an eighth-place finish with a mark of 19:56.2, and freshman Nathan Mack placed ninth in his collegiate debut with a time of 19:57.6.  Senior co-captain Ben Whitman rounded out the team's scoring finishers, placing 13th with a time of 20:02.5.

Other top-20 finishers for the CWRU men at the meet included sophomore Tim Andrews (15th, 20:08.4), senior Nicholas Knorz (16th, 20:10.9), sophomore Luke Robbins (17th, 20:11.8), sophomore David Hall (18th, 20:12.7) and freshman Dmytro Blundell (20th, 20:15.4).

Albion's Andrew Bill won the meet with a time of 19:12.3, and led his team to a win at the meet, as the Britons finished with a score of 27 points (first-, third-, fifth-, seventh-, and 11th-places).  The Spartans finished second with 36 points, followed by John Carroll with 67.
