NYU Finishes in 28th at NCAA Championship

The New York University men's cross country team finished in 28th place at the NCAA Division III Championship, which was hosted by Principia College on Saturday, November 18, at the North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, IL.

The Violets earned an at-large team bid to the Championship with their fifth-place finish at last weekend's NCAA Atlantic Region Championship.

The squad was led on Saturday by senior captain Neil Saddler, who finished 53rd overall with a time of 25:08.38. Last season, Saddler finished in 195th place as the Violets placed 32nd.

The next NYU runner to cross the finish line was junior Brandon Shirazi, who took 99th place with a time of 24:30.75.

NYU's third scorer was senior Robert DeSisto, who completed the 8K course in 26:22.49 and finished in 234th place.

Rounding out the Violets' scorers were senior Karn Setya (26:33.54; 242nd place) and sophomore Ben Karam (26:52.09; 257th place).

Darin Lau of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the race with a time of 24:03.59. North Central College won the team championship.

Overall, 32 teams and 279 individuals competed in the event, which concludes the season for the team.
