Washington University Opens Season With Win Over Greenville

The Washington University in St. Louis cross country program began the 2017 season in dominant fashion against Greenville College on Friday evening in Forest Park.

Junior Matt Jenkins (19:12.7) placed first in the 5.83K race. Greenville's John Mangold took second place after Jenkins crossed the finish line nearly eight seconds ahead of the runner-up. The Bears' posted the three next best successive times with sophomore Jackson Hyde (19:21.9), and freshmen Nathan Ostdiek (19:37.1) and Pratyay Bishnupuri (19:48.3). Freshman Nathan Soria concluded the race for the WashU men with a time of 19:58.9, placing seventh overall out of 19 competitors.
