Rochester Runs to a Third-Place Finish at the Inter-Regional Rumble

University of Rochester men's cross country earned a podium finish, fishing third among the field of 32 teams at the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday.
 
Scott Sikorski led the way for Rochester, leading the pack in the early going and making a late push to move up from ninth to third place over the final 3K with a time of 25:06.3.
 
Zach Spergel joined Sikorski in the Top 20 with his time of 25:48.3, moving up from 22nd to 20th over the final stretch of the race. Daniel Ford also made a late push, moving up from 41st at the 5K mark to finish in 27th place with a time of 25:54.1, Rochester's third-leading runner.
 
Up next for UR, Griffin Weiner came in 31st with a time of 25:55.8, while Nick Gaitanis rounded out the top five racers for Rochester, all in the Top 50, with his 26.16.8 time, good for 50th.
 
Vishal Yalamachili and Max Hughes then rounded out the Yellowjackets' top seven runners, with Yalamanchili's time of 26:33.4 good for 71st, and Hughes coming in 82nd with his 26.43.3 time.
 
Nate Brunacini also earned a Top 100 finish, just three places behind Hughes in 85th with his 26:44.7 time.
 
The Yellowjackets finished third, behind a pair of ranked foes in Carnegie Mellon and Case Western Reserve with 124 points, and ahead of another ranked foe in John Carroll who came in fourth.
 
Carnegie Mellon took home the team title with 40 points and three Top-10 finishers, while Manchester's Enrique Salazar won the rumble with his time of 24:58.0.
