Brittany Grimm Named Interim Brandeis Softball Head Coach

From Brandeis University Athletics

Brandeis University has named Brittany Grimm as interim head softball coach, Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa '90 announced today.

Grimm, who served as an assistant coach for the Judges in 2013, is a 2012 Brandeis graduate and four-year member of the softball team. She played numerous positions in the field for the Judges and served as captain as a senior. Grimm graduated among the top five in seven different career categories: hits (2nd, 188), at-bats (T2nd, 514), total bases (3rd, 278), Doubles (T3rd, 40), runs scored (4th, 121), RBI (5th, 105) and games played (T5th, 160).

Grimm was twice named All-New England, earning first team honors as a sophomore and third team as a senior. She was named to three All-University Athletic Association (UAA) teams and two UAA All-Tournament teams. Grimm was also named to the UAA All-Academic team all three years she was eligible and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection as a sophomore.

"Brittany was a wonderful representative of Brandeis as a student-athlete," Sousa said. "I am confident she will maintain the high standards that she exhibited in the Judge uniform."

Grimm replaces Jessica Johnson, who was named head coach at Amherst College earlier this month. Brandeis will perform a national search for a softball coach in the spring, following the 2014-15 academic year.
