From NYU Athletics

Tom Crossan has been hired as an assistant coach of the New York University softball team, which makes its debut during the 2014-15 season. His main responsibilities will include working with the outfielders and coaching first base.

"I have known Tom for a very long time and he is a great addition to our program," said NYU Head Coach Jimmy Barrett. "His knowledge and experience make him a great asset, and I am excited to once again have him on my staff."

Crossan served as an assistant coach at NYU-Poly from 2012 until the athletic department merged with NYU in the summer of 2014. He also served as an assistant basketball coach at NYU-Poly for three seasons (2010-13).

Before coaching at NYU-Poly, Crossan spent 10 seasons as the Head Coach of the Middletown Warriors Baseball Club where several of his former players moved on to play collegiately.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to help build a world-class competitive softball program," Crossan said. "I look forward to being a part of the long-standing NYU Athletics tradition."

A 1993 graduate of St. Francis College (NY), Crossan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management.
