Spartans Defeat Tartans 82-66 in Season Finale

Senior point guard Amanda Germer (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) posted a career-high 16 points in her final game as a Spartan as the Case Western Reserve University women's basketball concluded it's season with an 82-66 win on senior day against University Athletic Association rival Carnegie Mellon University.

Joining Germer in double-digits for the Spartans, junior Laura Mummey (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) posted 16 points and added two blocks, and senior Berit Eppard (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) tallied 11 points and brought down seven boards.

The Tartans were led by Lisa Murphy with 29 points and 14 rebounds.

A jumper by Germer gave the Spartans a 13-0 lead 4:31 into the game and they upped the lead to 15 with 6:01 remaining in the half on a layup from Orcutt. Germer scored 11 first-half points. 

The Tartans came out with a 9-2 run to start the second half to pull within two points, 42-40, as Lindsay Poss hit a jumper at 16:54. The Spartans responded with an 8-0 run as senior guard Rachel Beaty (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron) hit a three-pointer at 14:47 to extend the lead to 10 points, 50-40.  

The Spartans never relinquished the lead and reached a season-high 19-point lead on a Beaty free throw with 1:11 remaining.

The Spartans conclude the season 9-16 overall and 3-11 in the UAA, while the Tartans fall to 12-13, 3-11 UAA.
